Thank you again to our speakers Valerie Lacarte, Migration Policy Institute, and Molly Gotobed, Community Health Council, for such informative presentations on the processes and changes in immigrant access and participation to benefits and services. Although many of us work through various obstacles and nuances in getting our immigrant community members connected to services, the data certainly quantifies from a larger lens what we may observe on a case by case basis at the local level.

If you weren't able to attend or would like a refresher, both presentation's are now available on our website; below you'll find a list of some of the articles Dr. Lacarte covered or referenced for a deeper dive into the stats on your specific region.

  1. Policy briefs on SNAPMedicaid and CHIP - include state-level data on eligibility and participation of federally eligible immigrants.

  2. Benefits Primer - immigrant access rules for detailed immigration status, for 13 programs and benefits.

  3. Brief Explainer on federal rules around immigrant access to public benefits.

  4. Kansas City fact sheet on profile of immigrants (2016).

  5. Brief Explainer on immigrants and crime. Join Communities Concerned for Immigrants and Refugees for an overlook of immigrant access and participation in benefits and services, such as SNAP, Medicaid, SSI, CHIP, etc., with the help of Valerie Lacarte from the Migration Policy Institute.
